Real Estate is a very visual business.  I mean….it’s pretty important for a real estate agent to show off an amazing listing to a prospective buyer or seller without showing them the property.  What’s more, is that these days with the ease and abundance of visual content online, it would be a smart move for any business owner to be putting out video content in order to gain authority and get their prospective clients to know like, and trust them.

Therefore, video marketing for real estate agents is a MUST!  In this post, we will cover the exact steps that a realtor will need to take to implement video marketing that works into their business.  Are you ready?  Let’s GO!!

Stand out from the crowd!

In the words of Seth Godin, be the purple cow!  Real Estate Agents who want to gain authority in their market will benefit from having a unique style, niche, or business model and SHOWING that with video!  

Don’t be another agent with the same style, wardrobe, haircut, and marketing look & feel!  Think about who you want to serve and what makes you unique. 

Below are two simple video formulas you can follow to get this message across in an effective way.

  • 1- The Foundational “WHY” Video:  Start with a foundational video about who you are and WHY you want to be a real estate agent.  What does it mean to you?  Why is it important to you, and what can your clients expect?  Feel free to reach out to us here if you want more ideas about how to effectively create and use a foundational “WHY” video!
  • 2- The Niche Video:  We know an amazing realtor who nailed this video!  Her true passion in life was art.  She is a painter who became a realtor and catered her marketing specifically to the art crowd.  Sometimes casting too wide of a net can be counter-productive!  Use video to show that you are an integral part of the crowd you serve.  If you are a musician, show yourself writing or performing music and tell your story!  

Avoid the “corporate” look:

Real Estate Agents can make good money, and we know that you want to look polished and professional…but for Pete’s sake, don’t take yourself too seriously on your videos!  

Keep the energy high, the vibe positive, and the mood light.  Avoid any scenes of you pointing at a whiteboard in your office as colleagues or buyers/sellers watch you present.  

I guess it would be easier to say, don’t do what everyone else does with your video!

Be Consistent:

Having the trust of your clients is absolutely crucial in real estate.  That’s why it is so important to stay consistent!  

The more consistent you are with your videos on social media, the more people will see you.  The more they see you, the more they will get to know, like, and trust you.  People tend to do business with people that they trust!

Post several videos per week!  They do not have to be super polished or studio quality.  Many videos that are raw, real, and authentic will get the job done and show you in a more down to earth light.

Place yourself in your prospective client’s shoes and find out what questions they have.  What questions do you hear from them all of the time?  What information can you share with them that will add value to their lives and their possible future real estate transaction?  Make a list of topics and start making videos that answer these questions on a consistent basis.
